Sour Grapes ?

So far I have sold maybe 60 copies, received about 12 reviews, but I do have a 5 star rating on Amazon. I blog, I Vlog and I have a website dedicated to the project as well as spending 20 hours+ a week and a lot of money TRYING to promote it… All to no avail because… who am I ? Go check me out, read the reviews, write your own and help others by spreading the word.

Then the frustration hits… Every week it seems there’s a Z list celebrity ‘bringing out a book’ that immediately goes to the top of the best seller charts because they got lucky with a viral puppy post or something similar AND paid a ghost writer !

For any struggling author who can't get a book deal, there's something particularly galling about self-admitted semi-literate celebrities scoring huge advances for ghost-written novels and memoirs. Sure, some turn out to be good; others, while not particularly literary, at least offer a compelling glimpse into the mind and life of a popular personality.

Often, however, even the celebs themselves seem aware of their own shortcomings. Macaulay Culkin published a memoir/poetry/comic book hodgepodge for which he actually even makes repeated apologies for in the introduction, saying, "I am not a writer. I couldn't possibly be a writer"; "Writing could not be my calling after the mess I've made of all this"; "I'm no writer. This is not my calling."
